shhh! They're sleeping.

Last week we noticed the frogs appeared to be frozen on the bottom of our pond. My dad said they were just hibernating. One is laying on its back while the other sits as if it is ready to jump. Over the few warmer days they began to get fuzzy. After taking a sample from under the ice we got out the microscope to have a look at what the fuzz could be.

Turns out the fuzz is a lot of algae and a menagerie of protozoans. I guess they help wake the froggies up when it's time. We also looked at bananas, oranges, and sugar crystals.

I don't think I need to wear glasses but my dad let me borrow his for a few minutes. Along with the prairie dress, they add 15 years to my appearance.

I must say that you look like a real scientist; maybe you are following in daddy's footsteps!!! Love you, Gramma Debbie

I also wanted to say that I bet you can see all those microscopic things better with your glasses! LOL, Gramma
