I got to help inspect the beehives at MRH today with my dad and Kay. As the first real day of summer vacation, there were not a too many middle schoolers up that early so I really had to help! I got to use the smoker to get the bees calm and the bee brush to move them out of the way.
I found the queen before anyone else! She has a white dot so you can tell her from the others.
The worst part was getting suited up in the humid St. Louis weather.
Brushing the bees.

I'm smoking the bees to keep them calm for my dad.

The most important thing about working with bees is that you move slowly and carefully.
